The tallest Thing with the shortest Thing

This rare picture was captured on the set of The Thing From Another World (1951). James Arness and Billy Curtis appear as "The Thing" in this picture. Arness stood 6'7" while Curtis stood 4' 2." Curtis was actually hired to play a smaller version of the monster near the end of the movie. If Arness looks a little embarrassed, it's probably because he was. He felt the costume made him look like a "giant carrot."
