Though this film is considered as a remarkable film in the history of cinema it wasn't a success either audiences or critics at the initial release. But even after many years from its release, it has been praised by many people. In 2008, it was ranked as the 71st greatest movie of all time by Empire magazine in its issue of The 500 Greatest Movies of All Time.
