The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)

This still was taken on the set of The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957). It is a second world war film directed by David Lean, based on the eponymous French novel (1952) by Pierre Boulle. The movie was filmed in Ceylon (now known as Sri Lanka). The bridge in the film was located near Kitulgala. Alec Guinness (left) and Geoffrey Horne (right) are seen here in this picture. Alec plays the role of Lieutenant Colonel Nicholson and Horne plays the role of Lieutenant Joyce.
