This photo was taken on the set of Life Of PI (2012). It was nominated for three Golden Globe Awards which included the Best Picture – Drama and the Best Director and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score. At the 85th Academy Awards it had eleven nominations, including Best Picture, and won four (the most for the evening) including Best Director for Ang Lee. The guy in the boat is actor Suraj Sharma. The crew have created a custom Voodoo toolset and rendered in a proprietary renderer called Wren, the pipeline had to join the systems to allow for say interaction and reflections on the ocean surface. The whole crew is struggling to make this scene realistic. #lifeofpi
